Train To Amsterdam

She was waiting for the train to Amsterdam. It was the middle of a Dutch fall. In ten minutes she finally heard it puffing and whistling about the importance of steam engines and how it could not understand the passengers who chose to travel by airplane instead of by train. As it approached – she saw a sign that the train was coming from London. “Mind the gap!” – she heard. She then saw the rushing passenger creatures – big and small, in top hats and crinolines, with monocles and pointy umbrellas, boarding the train’s cars. “Next stop – Amsterdam… Ma’am, are you boarding? …“ - (from my Nightbook, 2018)
